My mom got one a few months ago, not the one pictured but identical. I have to say I’m impressed. It feels like any high-ish end economy car (if such a thing exists) but it has awesome torque and amazing throttle response.

It would be a terrible car for me, since my more aggressive driving style would run down the battery in no time. But if you drive like an older lady and have an alternative way to get around if you need to go more than 30 miles from your house, I’d say it’s not bad.

A local Nissan dealership was a local auto show with a fleet of Leafs. They were offering test drives around the parking lot. They had a cone course set up, just had to sign a waiver and you could test drive one. I did it, it was not as bad as I thought it be. If I lived in the city, I would for sure buy one. For what it was, it was pretty good. It had enough tech to be modern with out overwhelming me.

Never driven a leaf but my dad has had his Volt for over a year now. Even though it only goes about 40 miles on battery alone, it has proven that electric (and plug-in hybrids) cars really work. If your commute is less than 50 or so miles both ways, they can really work. In fact, my ideal garage would be a Volt for daily driving and a sports car of some sort to get the adrenalin out of me.

Never a Leaf, but I have driven a Mercedes B class. Electric are pretty fun in the right circumstances. I enjoyed it very much, but would probably get bored with it in daily driving.

It's faster than a car from 20 years ago over a short distance, not too surprising

My family has one, I haven’t gotten to drive it yet (too young, but not for much longer). It really works for everyday life. Practical, economical and decently comfortable for a small car. What trim is hers?

No I haven’t, I might get to soon. I know a guy who resells them. Lots of people do a lease and then ditch them. He has seven right now I think. I might go just to see what they are like.

Yup, my mom got a lease. The idea is that since it’s new technology she’ll want to upgrade when the next version comes out.
